How to reach Maribor

By Car

Maribor is located at the crossroads to Graz, Vienna, Budapest, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Trieste, Klagenfurt and Munich. In terms of travel distance, travelling by car is recommended from Zagreb, Ljubljana and Klagenfurt (1hr 30 min), Vienna and Trieste (2 hrs 30 min), Bratislava (3 hrs), and Prague, Budapest and Venice (4 hrs). In September, there are no delays at the border crossings. The location of the Habakuk Hotel is indicated on all roads leading to the centre of Maribor. There are two parking options at the Habakuk Convention Centre: an indoor parking lot and an outdoor parking lot. For more information on driving in Slovenia, visit the Automobile Association of Slovenia (AMZS) web site http://www.amzs.si/. For information about car hire, please visit: Car Rentals at http://www.hertz.si.

By Train

Maribor lies in the middle of the classic Austrian Southern railway line (Südbahn) formerly operating from Vienna to Italy. The city is well connected by rail to Zagreb and Budapest. It takes approximately one hour to get to Graz, two hours to Ljubljana, three hours to Zagreb, and four hours to get either to Vienna or Trieste. For information on train timetables, please visit http://www.slo-zeleznice.si/en/inland_transport/timetable_with_prices/ (for inland journeys), or http://www.slo-zeleznice.si/en/international:trnsport/international_links/ (for international journeys).

By Plane

The closest airport to Maribor is Graz Airport, which is only 40 kilometres away and has regular connections to Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich. For the duration of the conference, the shuttle service will be provided between the Airport and the Habakuk Convention Centre.
Further away from Maribor are Ljubljana Airport (130 km away) and Zagreb Airport (120 km away). If you decide to land in Ljubljana or Zagreb, the only way to get to Maribor is to use coach and train services from the airports to Maribor. We strongly recommend travelling to Graz Airport instead.
